There's no charge for travel time within the M25 — you're only billed for hours actually worked. For projects further out, we'll identify any travel costs before I visit, so it's agreed up front. Out-of-pocket expenses sit outside the hourly rate: parking, train or plane fares and any overnight stays are billed separately as disbursements. I keep a clear log throughout, so you always know exactly what you're paying for.
For a property you're thinking of buying, a pre-purchase appraisal visit is charged on the same basis — usually a very small cost against a very large decision.
Getting involved early often saves far more than it costs — in problems avoided and money better spent.
